Dear Psci-comers,
I thought the list may be interested in some of the events which this
Society (The British Psychological Society) has organised to celebrate our
Centenary, this year.
Science Museum
There is a small exhibition on the fourth floor entitled 'Mind your head?'.
The exhibtion opened on 18 January and runs throughout the year. It has
been curated by Dr Geoff Bunn, Associate Curator of Psychology at the
Museum and sponsored by this Society.
Public Lectures
Professor Alan Cowey FRS will give a public lecture at The Royal Society on
22 Feb. The subject is finding out which bit of our brains control
function. Admission is by ticket available from the RS.
Professor Vicki Bruce OBE will give a public lecture at The Royal Society
of Edinburgh on 11 April. The subject will be the face and face
recogntion. (Unsure at this stage about ticketting details).
Annual Conference
This year we are in Glasgow at the SECC from 28 to 31 March. Vasrious
public events are planned including lectures, a careers fair, and a bus, to
be based in the City Centre. Society members will offer answers to your
'psychological 'questions.
National Portrait Gallery
An exhibition will run from 9 May until 27 August. It will display pictures
of important historical figures as well as portraits of current Society
Award winners. Associated with the exhibition there will be a series of
eight public lunchtime lectures. The first will be on 7 June and will run
each week until the end of August.
