Dear All,
I have to say that on reading GEM News I found myself very disappointed
indeed that Stephen Allen's efforts to find out what the membership thought
about GEM publications had resulted in only 28 responses.
I don't know what the current membership figure actually is but I would
suggest that this level of response is less that most people would expect
from their worst experience of school surveys or other evaluations. How can
we as a profession be so disheartened by the responses we get in our own
work when we cannot spend a few minutes responding to the efforts of those
within our own peer group who are trying to do the best for us all (and in a
voluntary capacity no less).
Stephen wasn't asking for essays or dissertations - his survey took a few
minutes of my time and I was happy to do it. I note that the majority of the
others who took the time to respond where also freelancers - there's a point
about pro-activity and enthusiasm perhaps here?
Anyway, come on the rest of you. Is it too much to ask to give a little back
from time to time?
