I am a General Dental Practitioner with an interest in research and am
embarking on a part-time PhD. The subject matter involves placing small
preformed metal crowns on children's teeth (using a new technique) to try to
slow down the rate of dental decay and ultimatately reduce the number of
children subjected to general anaesthetics for tooth extractions. This will
be set up as a "split mouth" technique with subjects acting as their own
controls using conventional filling techniques.
The project is a collaboration between Primary and Secondary care and
necessarily involves a questionnaire to be filled out by the dentists at the
time of treatment. This is not a problem in the academic setting where the
dentists are used to carrying out research. However, in the general practice
setting I would like to make the questionnaire as accessible, attractive and
easy to fill out as possible.
I have tried various books on EBM and Websites but have failed to come up
with anything giving suitable information on questionnaire design. If anyone
has any useful sites or information please could they let me know,
Thanks in advance,
