This is the version done for the BR published after Trent, when an attempt
was made to introduce a more classical style into the 'corrupt' Latin
medieval hymns. Outside of monastic and (some) religious houses, this was
the common version in use in the Roman rite until the revision of the Office
in the LH after Vatican II. For a fulsome discussion of this see one of the
standard works on the history of the Office hymns and consult the
bibliography there to find a wealth of material on this subject.
