As part of Renaissance in the Regions, SEMLAC has established a region wide network of Museum Development Services. This support network complements investment in the SE Hub and focuses on the wider museums community. The role of Museum Development Officer is key to the delivery of this support service in Hampshire & the Isle of Wight.
The Museum Development Officer will work within a small team providing advice and support to help museums across Hampshire & the Isle of Wight improve their services and meet the new Accreditation standard. They will also liaise with a wide range of stakeholders to represent and promote the interests of the sub-region’s museums. This influential role represents an excellent opportunity to make a real difference on the ground, and get involved in the diverse range of issues affecting museums.
Successful candidates will have worked in a museum or heritage environment for at least three years, have extensive experience of professional practice, and demonstrate a good knowledge of national policies and issues. In addition, they will have worked with a wide variety of organisations and people, and possess excellent communication skills.
This post is supported by the Renaissance Museum Development Fund. The post-holder will be employed by Hampshire County Council and based in Winchester. This post is open to flexible employment arrangements, including secondments. The post is not eligible for relocation.
