Sexual dissatisfaction is a common-enough cause of marital friction among
the able-bodied, and it is endeic among the disabled.... Felings of guilt
pemeate, and sometimes bury, the familiesof the disabled.

"reports on how paralysis - ALL disability -- affects a person's identity
and his or her ties with others."
I am seeking information on web pages that:
- speak usefully to adults & teens with acquired disabilities (with severe
pain)
- address issues of sexuality and dependency [would prefer on exceptionlly
sensitive site on this]
- speak to non-academics about social paradigm.
why?
I am preparing web-resource list for people with RSD [Reflex Sympathetic
Dystrophy] (and their famlies, providers, researchers).
RSD is a potentially severely-disabling condition, considered comparable
in severity and unpredictability to Multiple Sclerosis. The condition is
debilitatingly painful; effective treatment is the exception, rather than
the rule. There is reportedly (but undocumented) a high suicide rate.
This is a medical condition with high disability rate and usually a
progressive deterioration in "quality of life" along with substantial
medical treatment, with associated risks and commplications.
I am interested inidentifying useful internet-based resources -- not
specific to RSD -- but approaching disability issues from a perspective
*other* than "victim-based disability advocacy." People with RSD are less
likely to think in terms of identity politics, and more likely to focus
on day-to-day survival matters..
I look forward to reading your replies.
Thank you, in advance.
In connection,
Judith Winter
