Medway Council has a mobile information bus which allows people in remote
areas to access council services. We need to find training for one of our
drivers and are encountering problems. What do you do in your authority to
train your mobile drivers?
The problem we're encountering is that our double-decker bus is neither a
load carrying vehicle (LCV) nor a people-carrying vehicle (PCV). It can by
driven by anybody with a valid private car licence. According to road
transport law, it can't be used for training our drivers, which means we
need to go to an external company for training. The companies we've found
all require trainees to hold a provisional LCV or PCV licence.
Do companies exist that train people with a car licence? What do you do in
your authority?
Thanks in advance
Helen
