Seeing Richard Weingart's name brings back memories, for he was at Duke U.
when I was; a wonderful scholar with incredible promise. Alas, he was
killed early in his career in a car collision. Wonderful book he wrote.
One thing comes to mind, perhaps not quite on "spirituality": In _Fabula_
Peter Dronke considers Abelard, esp. Abelard's comments on and use of
symbolic language and "integumentum". (I refer to this by memory, so the
extent of Dronke's treatment is not so clear to me, but I was struck by it
when I read it.) There might be some clues or the like in Marcia Colish's
book on Peter Lombard, since she touches on many, many twelfth century
topics and individuals in that book. Check the massive index.
