Howdy, all.
This discussion about JAMA, AMA, editorial priorities and censorship is by
turns fascinating and terrifying. I am reminded of a statement in Roger
Neighbour's Inner Apprentice book, "if you want to learn people's values,
present them a choice."
The press release quotes Dr. Anderson, and Dr. Thomas reiterates, that this
decision to sack Dr. Lundberg represented consideration of not only the
handling of the disputed article, but also other incidents over the last few
months. If this article was the last straw, what were the other straws? What
other egregious errors had Dr. Lundberg made/been believed to make that led
Dr. Anderson & the board to conclude that sacking him was rational and
justified? If the therapy is to fit the diagnosis, and the punishment is to
fit the crime, what is the diagnosis, or the crime?
I apologize if these are known by everyone else, and if I'm the only one
confused on this part. Also, I beg the foregiveness of those on this list
for whom this topic has progressed passed boredom into nausea. I don't mean
to prolong your suffering with my question.
Thanks in advance for clarifying responses.
