Dear colleagues
Further to my earlier e-mail requesting info on this topic I have
received some requests for clarification.
1) why do I want to know ?
I (try) to teach EBP to nurses and therfore am looking to collect
wide range of examples to use in teaching / development of learning
materials
2) What type of nursing ?
All fields
3) What do I mean exactly ?
Looking for examples that will be of broad interest to wide range of
nurses (i.e not those who are necessarily advanced practitioners or
specialists working in specialist areas- I don't include community
nursing practice in this definition so I am ineterested in this)
Looking for evidence about things where nurses themselves make the
decisions about
assessment
Diagnosis (or identifying the patients problem)
Prognosis (or setting goals)
Therapy (which can include any type of intervention where the nurse
decides what the intervention should be or at least it is within
their scope of practice to do so)
the basis of lay or professional decision making (i.e qualitative
research on the perceptions of pts/clients/ carers service providers)
As example of this i would give the systematic review on compression
bandaging in leg ulcers carried out by Nicky Cullum and others from
the Centre for Reviews and Dissemination (UK)
(ps I am aware of Excellent souce in Journal Evidence Based Nursing)
Looking for research that demonstartes that nursing practice in a
particular area etc. does not match that which 'strong' evidence
suggests it should be.
thanks in anticipation
mark
