Thanks to everyone who has answered my request for lists of critical
chemistry results. This is the list with the evidence for their use!!
Doorbellijst consensus of 15 Dutch labs
Addenbrookes Hosp 20 + years of cumulative practice
Lewisham Hosp 20 + years of cumulative practice
Univ Michigan http://po.path.med.umich.edu/handbook/critical.htm
Univ California 15 years of “collective medical judgment”
JAMA 1990;263:704-7
I have also been sent a list from a paediatric hospital which does
cite publications and recommendations as evidence. This list is
appended to this mail message but I have lost the anme of the
owners (please accept my apologies).
Unfortunately I can find very little evidence for the benefit of
phoning critical results outside operating theatres, except for
calcium and haemoglobin.
