An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the Museum*s Interpretation
and Education Department. This team aims to communicate an
awareness and understanding of London*s public transport and its
history. The successful candidate will help to promote the learning
opportunities and education resources provided by London Transport
and the London Transport Museum.
Working with the Education Officer the postholder will develop activities
and talks for school groups, with reference to key skills and the National
Curriculum. The postholder will manage the established network of
London Transport School Liaison Officers and liaise with Bus Operators
interested in school liaison. You will be responsible for developing
training programmes for the School Liaison Officers and for maintaining
links with schools and other education sectors.
You will assist the Education Officer in the development of new
education resources, activities and training courses (INSET) for
teachers. You will be required to work with a wide range of staff in the
Museum and across London Transport.
You will be educated to degree level, with previous experience of
education in museums and/or recent teaching experience. You should
possess excellent communication and organisational skills. You must be
able to prioritise your workload and be comfortable working both as part
of a team and unsupervised, using your own initiative.
You must be prepared to develop a knowledge of the history of
London*s public transport and its impact on the capital city and
inhabitants. You should have experience of working with computers, in
particular word-processing (Word 6) and spreadsheet packages (Excel).
An understanding of the world wide web and its potential for schools is
an advantage.
