Hello - Kate Rambridge, apprentice medievalist (2nd year PhD),
English/History Departments, University of Bristol. I'm working on
eighth-century Northumbrian historiography, and am interested in early
medieval historiography in general, especially aspects of its design and
function (which I know could mean almost anything...)
This is the important bit:
I'm organising a post-graduate conference on the theme of 'Nature', which
will take place on the 13th-14th of February 1999. This will be the fifth
such event to take place as part of the annual programme of the Centre for
Medieval Studies at Bristol University. I shall be sending out a call for
papers in the next week or so, and if anybody would like to receive
details to display in their department do let me know, incase you're not
already on my mailing-list.
Proposals for papers (abstracts of 300 words, to be submitted by 31st
October) are invited from post-grad medievalists working in any field, and
from classicists whose research has relevance to the development of
medieval culture. Papers should last for twenty-five minutes, and
applicants may interpret the theme in any way they choose. Papers from the
previous two PG conferencces are currently being prepared for publication.
We don't charge a conference fee and we can usually find free beds or
floor-spaces for most of the delegates.
