Thank you, Paul! Just a terminological note: Harnack and Kleppinger, in referring to
'listserv' messages, have made the same mistake many people make when they refer to
our 'mailbase'. Both 'listserv' and 'mailbase' are names given to software or
dedicated machines dealing specifically with the distribution of e-mail to members
of discussion lists. ('Listserv' is software; 'mailbase' is the distribution system
established for UK-based universities and academic mailing lists.) So, when H & K
refer to how to 'cite information posted on listservs', they *really* mean 'cite
information posted on discussion lists'.

I confess to finding the last model confusing; the list's archive should be (in the
case of medieval-religion, at least) the precise URL for the month, thread, subject
