>* Elizabeth of Schonau, virgin (1164) - among her many visions was one of
>the martyrdom of St Ursula and her companions described in *Liber
>revelationum de sacro exercitu virginum Coloniensium*;
Her most significant vision though was that of the Assumption of the Virgin,
which gave a considerable boost to this feast. An account is given in
T.S.R. Boase, "The York Psalter" (Faber Library of Illuminated Manuscripts,
London 1962. One miniature (Plate 6 facing p. 26) is described by Boase as
"a most emphatic statement of the corporeal nature of the Assumption." In
his introduction (p. 9 ff.) he relates this to the visions of Elisabeth.
The Supple Doctor.
