Interesting thought. But is US pro-inflammatory? Studies performed here in
NZ by a pathologist - Dr. Linda Maxwell, have opened much debate. Her
studies show in some circumstances US may be destroying healing tissue and
cells rather than stimulating and encouraging healing. In one study her
findings questions whether US stimulates the release of oxygen free radicals.
Both these papers were published in The New Zealand Journal of
Physiotherapy some years ago (i.e. late 80's). They are not at hand at
present so I apologise for not being able to cite the exact reference.
