A very interesting question! Many physios here in NZ are using acupuncture
for 'bi syndromes' (the Chinese word for injuries caused by an external
nature/force). I must comment those therapists who have taken the time and
effort to undertake the 150 hours required training have no regrets.
Many of the our modalities/treatment interventions involve stimulating the
bodies response systems. Frictions, soft tissue massage, acuppressure, TENS
and acupuncture are a variation on a theme as I see it. All stimulate the
body to release a host of chemicals that 'switch-on' the bodies defence and
healing mechanisms.
I realise this very simple explaination and is not by any means the full
picture and is IMHO only.
