Dear colleagues,
Can anyone recognise the sources these two "texts" in sermons
in Gloucester Cathedral MS 22? I am required to give the supposedly
biblical references for the texts expounded, but these two texts
are not in the Vulgate, as far as I can establish from searches on
each word in an the electronic version. I cannot find the "texts"
in the liturgy of the relevant days, either. (Alas, we do not
have the electronic _PL_, or CETEDOC---but it may be that the sources
are patristic).
1) Atelous sermon for Septuagesima Sunday; text:
memorare nouissima [sic] & in eternum non peccabis.
No doubt this is a reference to "nouissimi" in the parable of the
vineyard (Matt. xx 1-26) the Gospel of the day.
2) Sermon "in die cinerum"; text:
delictum meum congnitum [sic--the otiose "n" is indicated by a
nasal bar] tibi feci
The author attributes this to the prophet David.
Any help will of course, be gratefully and formally acknowledged in
print.
