We have a potentially interesting patient with acute on chronic
sterile polyarthritis with "lipaemic" joint effusions and
possible subcutaneous fat necrosis. This raises the possibility of
pancreatic panniculitis. Serum amylase is unremarkable. There are
however reports of massively elevated lipase in this condition with
normal amylase. If anyone in the UK still measures lipase and can
help out, please let me know.
Also, if anyone can measure phospholipase A, has experience of measuring
lipids or free fatty acids in joint aspirates, or can do anything else
interesting
let me know.
Thanks
