Not sure if this is entirely relevant but...
The topic at hand reminds me of a curious section of the Bayeux Tapestry
which reads VBI: VNUS: CLERICUS: ET: AELFGYFA and depicts a tonsured
priest reaching through an archway to touch the face of a woman (she is
the only woman to appear in the entire tapestry). Directly below, in the
border,is the figure of a naked man with what appears to be an erect penis
- a possible reading for this being that it represents a sexual
relationship between the priest and the woman.
I believe the meaning of this unfinished phrase *Where a certain cleric and
Aelfgyfa...* has been long debated. It appears on Plate XVIII in the 1875
illustrated edition published by The Arundel Society, London.
