Right you are! The title of the diss. is "The Prologue to the `Decretum'
and `Panormia' of Ivo of Chartres. An Eleventh Century Tretise on
Ecclesiastical Jurisprudence" (PhD 1990). An excellent piece of work.

I can second Prof. Brundage's views of Martin Brett from personal
experience. If anyone is desperate for a copy of the prologue to the
"Tripartita", I have one in my files that can be easily copied.

One should also see a very impt. article by Jaqueline Rambaud-Buhot, "Les
sommaires de la Panormie et l'edition de Melichior de Vosmedian," Traditio
XXIII, 1967. In addition, anyone who wants to work on pre-Gratian canon
law needs to look at the works of and be in contact with Linda
Fowler-Magerl in Regensbourg-- Linda is also extremely generous and has
more stuff on pre-Gratian canon law than anyone else around, including a
massive ms on the topic that hopefully one day will find a publisher.
