Dear Omar:
As soon as I say my basic impression is that design research is now (so to speak) very much about fine details, someone will write to say they have just produced a new colour theory or a fundamental new understanding of haptics. I hope that the demonstration effect will come into play.
To be more sober, it is my disappointing experience that of the three design conferences I attended in 2019 only one paper stood out as being basic and useful. (I have to say my own work wasn’t spectacularly basic either)
This is a paper I could use in the classroom.
