This just in from our head of workshops – medical approval for rapid-prototyping face shield production:
“There have been a number of developments since we communicated last week, so we are getting close to joining the production pool for face shields. The first is that MGH has actually endorsed a version of the 3D printed face shields. Here’s the design: https://theppedrive.com/3d-printed-visor.
Also, we found a design for a laser-cut face shield (https://www.protohaven.org/proto-shield/
), which has the major advantage of being much much faster to produce. A colleague down at UC Davis has informed us that they are producing a similar one, that they have had approved by doctors for hospitals down there. I’ve forwarded the design to MGH, but haven’t heard back. I think based on your feedback, we’ll begin producing anyway. We can get both the printed version and the laser-cut version in production.”
