I'm with Lucy-Ann on this. Being a 'curator' is more about collection care, selection and presentation, which seems to sell the inspiring and engaging work of learning professionals a bit short, even if objects are their medium. I enjoyed this article about the changing meanings of the word 'curator': https://uk.phaidon.com/agenda/art/articles/2011/september/09/a-brief-history-of-the-word-curator/. It includes the delightful observation: "I am a curator. What a dead word. It sounds like somebody stirring turds in a toilet bowl with a stick."
Now, back to my tax return...
Robin

My original title when I worked at the Royal Mint Museum was Assistant Curator for Education and Learning. That was swiftly swapped for Education and Learning Manager as we decided that Education and Learning wasn't something we were curating, it was something we were doing. I personally never really understood why you'd use curator and learning together (unless you were curating a collection of learning materials no longer in use). But I'm from an education background originally and museums seem to like to call everyone a curator.
I hope that's of help.
Lucy-Ann

Dear all,
I am trying to find out whether the term “education curator” exists in the museum field to name those professionals working for the development of museum learning programmes.
Would you know of any institutions calling their staff this way?
Thank you
