Eric,
The Bsoft package (http://bsoft.ws) has a program bmultislice that can add noise. I’m sure other general packages (that can do general image manipulations) probably do too.

I would like to make them more reflective of 2D class averages from cryo-EM data (i.e. how do I make reprojections from PDB structures that could reflect experimental 2D class averages?) Is there an established method for modeling the noise in 2D class averages?

I have tried low-pass filtering the images, but I am wondering if there are additional blurring or noise filters that should be introduced. Thanks in advance for any help!
