Good Morning Gemland!

I am at the start of a project to make a film of the memories of a wonderful volunteer who is retiring from the museum in September and was an evacuee to Tiverton in WW2. This is to be used with school groups, where we will really feel his absence, as the children so love hearing his experiences. I am imagining it to be mostly animated, with some live action scenes as well. Ideally there might be an interactive part to the film, as children mostly ask the same few questions of him - I am not tech-savvy enough to know what is possible here really!

Has anyone got any recommendations or examples of similar work? I will need to get several quotes before I can proceed with fundraising.

Many Thanks,

Holly

Any museum can contribute to improving conditions in its own neighborhood, city, country and the world. Together these efforts build capacity for continued change, and they build greater positive impact.

The public discussion of the environment and climate change is an important opportunity for museums to connect more deeply with their communities. It is also an opportunity to protect and strengthen their institutions. Join Instructor Sarah Sutton author of Environmental Sustainability at Historic Sites and Museums, The Green Nonprofit, and Co-author of The Green Museum for this course which will be a survey of the practical aspects of interpretation and public programming, operational changes, building construction, and community engagement in service to the message of how changes in our museum work can deepen museums’ connections to communities while strengthening mission fulfillment.

Dear Gem members,

We have just finished the redisplay of our new shop here at Reading Museum - we have a number of very serviceable ex John Lewis display shelves which are available to a good home! Photos attached.

Please do get in touch with my colleague Lucy if you are interested: [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>
