Dear Philip,
There is a huge literature on RCTs especially in econometrics,
epidemiology, medicine and psychology and probably looking at those fields
is much better than trying to pin down scarce (if there are any) design
research examples.
I am doing consulting for large scale child-welfare and social-policy
intervention data, but nothing directly design related, but if you have any
specific questions, I am more than happy to chat on and off list. There are
so many factors (length of intervention, expected outcomes, availability of
previous data, recruitment, measurement problems etc.) so without knowing
the specifics it is really hard to recommend something.
Yours,
Ali
