This year's Festival of Archaeology will take place from 13-28 July 2019 and will showcase the very best of British Archaeology.
To help you create festival events for young adults (aged 16-25) we have put together some top tips on our new "Youth" page which you can find here https://festival.archaeologyuk.org/youth
#ArchaeoTech is our theme for 2019 – Archaeology, Science and Technology. This can be simple activities, or events demonstrating ancient technologies, such as flint-knapping, pottery firing or metalworking. Alternatively, you may wish to demonstrate modern technologies such as the use of drones in discovering new archaeological discoveries or photogrammetry for recording excavations as they happen.
Whilst you are on the Festival website you might like to check out our #Archaeocake competition and create a baked version of your favourite archaeological or heritage site, discovery, archaeologist, or fictional archaeology hero! See here for more details https://festival.archaeologyuk.org/blog/archaeocake-1554968372
We will be sharing more details of the 2019 Festival of Archaeology events over the coming weeks. Watch out for more details of our "A Day in Archaeology" live blogs which will be taking place during the Festival of Archaeology on Monday 22 July. We will also be working with the National Trust on the #askanarchaeologist day on 17 July. These live blogs and tweets will highlight the varied work of archaeologists from around the UK and your contribution may inspire the next generation of archaeologists. If you would like to be involved, we would love to hear from you.
