What: Safeguarding Summit
When: Thursday 14th March 1.30pm to 4.30pm
Where: New Wing, Somerset House, Central London
Cost: Free
The aim of the summit is to bringing together people currently connected via the GEM e-list and an informal email forum that connects colleagues in museums and galleries with each other on the theme of safeguarding good practice. (if you would like to join that email list please let me know!)

We are delighted that our speaker will be Paul Anderson from the NSPCC. Paul has done a lot of work with the sector and has worked closely with the Arts Council to develop their safeguarding standards. Along with presenting Paul will also be staying to join are round table discussions for the afternoon
To open, there will be a presentation on the role of the non-statutory sector in safeguarding, the rest of the session will use round table discussion to will explore:
- Training needs in the sector
- Best practice in procedure
- Writing a good policy
- Meeting expectations from educational partners (formal, informal and adult education)
- There will also be an open forum for general questions and issues

• SELF SERVICE TEA BREAK 15:15-15:30
• DISCUSSION CONTINUES 15:30-16:15
• PLENARY AND NEXT STEPS 16:15-16:30
