Dear All,
Please find attached our Call for Content for the Snapping the
Stiletto: Essex Women's History Festival. It is also available online
via our website:
https://snappingthestiletto.com/2018/10/05/history-festival-call-for-content/
Snapping the Stiletto is a county-wide project looking at how local
women’s lives have changed in the century since getting the vote, and
uncovering stories of inspirational Essex women. It is a partnership
between 11 local museums and Essex County Council, funded by the Esmee
Fairbairn Collections Fund.
This FREE festival, run in partnership with the University of Essex,
will celebrate strong Essex women. It will highlight stories of past
and present women making a difference in their local communities. Our
themes are campaigning women, women at work, and migrant women, and we
are focused on the hundred years following the Representation of the
People Act 1918. We aim to reach 250 attendees.
Snapping the Stiletto is a community-led project and we are keen to
involve as many people as possible in the festival. We are looking
for:
• 20 minute presentations on individuals or groups of Essex women
• 8 minute “lightning” presentations
• “Craftivism” art or craft activities
• Introductory digital “maker” demonstrations
• Films
• Display stands/exhibits for relevant organisations
• Other – if you have an exciting idea that’s not included above, we
still want to hear from you
Please do circulate it to your mailing lists and to anyone you know
who may be interested in getting involved.
Best wishes,
Amy
