Hi Adam
One suggestion is that you will get many more responses if you post this to the MCG museums computer group email list. If you're not a member I can forward it for you, with a note of your email asking people to reply directly to you. Be aware though that this will result in lots of people contacting you trying to get you to use their services!
It is important to be aware of the different roles of digital asset management systems, collections management systems (such as MODES) and web content management systems.
If you are using Modes then there are various ways of serving this to WordPress and other commonly used web content management systems.
If you have quite a lot of AV files then storage costs can become an issue, especially when you consider that you ought to have at least two or preferably three master copies of high resolution files, for anything that matters to you. With this in mind, consider Amazon glacier storage and consider also buying a large, robust hard drive which you would keep locally.
It's also worth considering using iCloud, Dropbox, YouTube, Flickr and other free or almost free products are definitely worth considering. For example Flickr gives you 1 TB (1000 GB) of storage with a free account. You can pay to avoid ads.
It sounds like you are already exploring options like that as you mention iCloud, YouTube, Soundcloud. For video there is also Vimeo.
If you think it would be helpful, I'd be very happy to talk through ideas with you off list on an informal basis – in other words without me expecting payment or that you'll employ me! But joking aside, I think a little bit of input from an external perspective might be useful.
Best wishes
Martin

Hey GEM,
Not a complete learning question i know but I was wondering if anyone had some recommendations for a online collections platform (DAMS) for smaller museums. We want to create an online catalogue for our Modes collection and audio/video collections that are held on youtube/soundcloud that can be searchable through our website and in house.
Also if anyone thinks there is a better way of hosting i.e. server or icloud, that would be appreciated.
Thanks
