Dear Luke,
It may be useful to add to your 9 aspects.
"Whether the PhD-Design list is inclusive. That is, whether it covers all the 800 or so fields of design, or only those 40 or so 'Art and Design' design fields."
Best wishes,
Terence

Subject: Feedback: Revised list of issues confronting the PHD-Design list
Dear Colleagues,
Recently I posted a link to a poll that asked list members to rank order what they consider to be the most important issues confronting the PHD-Design list currently. Sixty-six voters cast their votes in the poll.
Some list members have encouraged me to revise the poll and try a second vote. Several list members kindly responded with their thoughts and criticisms of the results and merits of the poll. I am grateful for their responses.
I have copied a new revised list of issues below. I welcome your thoughts and criticisms on the revised list of issues.
After reviewing the recent discussions and I have concluded that there are nine aspects to consider.
Politics of gender
Politics of culture
Politics of knowledge
Rigor and argumentation
Power and argumentation
Interest and argumentation
Relevance of topics to academic rank of audience Relevance of topics to PhD studies in particular Relevance of topics to scholarship in general
I revised the list of issues according to these nine considerations. I welcome your thoughts and feedback on the revised list of issues.
The poll asks you to rank order—from very important to not at all important—what you consider to be the issues confronting the PHD-Design list currently?
Marginalization of women’s views in discussions Intolerance of diverse cultural views in discussions Dominance of scientific views of knowledge in discussions Harmful effects of careless reasoning on the quality of argumentation Harmful effects of power on the quality of argumentation Harmful effects of narrow interests on the quality of argumentation Prejudice toward topics of most interest to those list members of high academic rank Insufficient discussion of topics relevant to PhD studies in particular Excessive posting of irrelevant information
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this project up to the present time.
Best wishes,
Luke
