Hello everyone - hope you are all keeping warm!
I've worked on various trails, interpretation projects and illustrated projects over the years, but haven't normally done all that many responses to tenders (a mixture of luck, only being able to take on so much work at a time and many projects coming to me by word or mouth or through my contacts).
Recently I've had three enquiries one after the other where part of the brief requires that all intellectual property (writing, design and artwork) is granted to the client, waving all moral rights. I'm just wondering whether this is considered normal within the industry? I normally just grant a wide-ranging licence which allows museums to use artwork/content 'for educational use' and this has always worked well, and means I retain the copyright (thus preventing my artwork from being adapted, sold on to third parties, reproduced without credit etc).
Do any other freelancers have any thoughts or experience on this? I'd be very interested to hear from you if so.
Many thanks,
Emma
