Hi Rosie,
Sorry I'm a bit late to the discussion but just to flag a few things that could be helpful.
Journeys of Appreciation (JOAP) is a multi-partnership programme with museums and galleries (including the Horniman), working with older adult in-patients with mental health problems and dementia across the South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. A key focus of the programme is on supporting positive relationships between patients and therapeutic staff and carers, to improve the quality of experiences and relationships in the ward environment. There is a good report about impact and other research online too, which might be relevant: http://outreach-europe.eu/wp-content/uploads/JOAP.case_.study_.pdf
It is also a really interesting and supportive partnership in terms of developing practice and understanding between staff across the different sectors.
It might be interesting to look at Recovery Colleges? There is a growing body of research about the benefits for supporting recovery, could be worth a look even if it is not about collaborating with cultural sector per se. Here we are developing work with our local NHS Trust Recovery College, happy to talk more if useful.
Also reports on cultural commissioning?
