Hello
I've experienced mixed success with this: I worked at one museum where the metal frame coat rack collapsed under the weight of the coats and lunch bags!
And I've used laundry hampers, which kind of work in terms of movability but are problematic for pupils trying to get their lunches and coats at the end of sessions.
I recently saw some really good racks - well made, sturdy, hold a lot of coats, but not too heavy to manoeuvre - at Valence House. I'm copying in the learning guru there, Mark Watson, so he can tell you whether they've been working out and where they got them.
Good luck - it's the things like this that can so unexpectedly impact the success of your sessions!

I have also seen laundry carts which look better volume wise but are rather ugly...and of course everything we have found so far is pricey!
