Hello GEM colleagues
I'm undertaking research into how/if museums and galleries monitor the ethnic diversity of pupils visiting on school visits. I'm particularly interested in understanding the following:
1. Do you collect ethnicity data from schools who visit? (i.e. do you monitor the ethnic diversity of school pupils?)
2. How do you collect that data?
3. Are there any barriers for collecting and comparing ethnicity data from schools?
4. What do you do with the data? (e.g. do you use the data strategically in any way opposed to simply monitoring?)
5. Have you come across any resources, toolkits or guides to support museums and galleries in collecting ethnicity data from schools (opposed to that of general audiences which there's plenty of)?
I’d be grateful to receive any thoughts regarding the above.
Please reply off list and I’ll happily collate and circulate any responses received.
Best wishes
Marge
