It depends how many you have. Last year we had 107 (4.4% of total) with rest breaks. In the past few years we have distributed them around the rooms but the problem can be that one student is left having taken rest breaks and is surrounded by invigilators and site team waiting to pack away the room. So.... to save money and improve efficiency I am trying this method.
Those with approved rest breaks and designated timings are given one of three categories.
1. Needs "attention" and most likely to take breaks (Room with two invigilators/study skills staff)
2. May take rest breaks (with one invigilator and close to exams office for extra support on hand)
3. Unlikely to take breaks - placed in normal exam room.

Thanks Chris - I get that. I'm just not sure how to administer it. I will ask for time constraints but would be better if in a separate room, although this also seems unfair to the majority?!

See JCQ 5.1 for rest breaks
Should be part of normal way of working and SENCO should decide any duration/timing.

Subject: 25% Extra Time with Rest Breaks
Hi there. Can anyone give me some advice about applying both 25% Extra Time and Resat Breaks to a student's exam arrangements. I am a little uneasy about this as the student did not have rest breaks last year and this seems in this case an unfair advantage. Do you restrict the time of each rest break?
