Most of our students who have rest breaks on top of extra time usually have it because of medical issues and need to get up and stretch or move around etc. We always tell students that rest breaks are normally only about 5 mins or so and this helps modify their expectations. If you are uneasy about the arrangement being misused or giving an unfair disadvantage then I would chat to your Senco about why this arrangement has been added for this student and get some proper guidance as to how it should be used. If it isn’t for physical reasons you may well find that the student either doesn’t use all their extra time or doesn’t use the rest breaks.

Subject: 25% Extra Time with Rest Breaks
Hi there. Can anyone give me some advice about applying both 25% Extra Time and Resat Breaks to a student's exam arrangements. I am a little uneasy about this as the student did not have rest breaks last year and this seems in this case an unfair advantage. Do you restrict the time of each rest break?
