Sheffield Industrial Museums Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic person to deliver a programme of activities and events outlined in the Activity Plan for the “Sheffield 1916: Steel, Steam & Power” HLF Project. This temporary post is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and will be central to creating and sustaining a new volunteering programme at Kelham Island Museum. The successful candidate will engage the people living around Kelham Island and the wider Sheffield communities in creating a sustainable and lively future for the museum.
Purpose of the job
To develop and deliver the learning and participation activities as set out in the Activity Plan
To develop the volunteer programme, in particular developing a team of visitor services volunteers at Kelham Island Museum and supporting the volunteers with training and co-ordination of activities
To support the delivery of specific planned volunteer projects, including historical research, community curation and oral history work
To continue the consultation programme and ensure activities meet the needs of target audiences
To develop partnerships with local community groups and heritage organisations
To support the evaluation the activity programme and audience development work
To work with and support the project team developing the new interpretation with any community consultation activities
To work with the museum services team to ensure that oral history material and other input from community projects is appropriately incorporated into the museum’s archives
