I'm sorry for the obtuseness of my question.
The universe of what I was thinking about is actually larger than what I
expressed.
A better phrasing would be "formal idea-generation methods".
I was caught up in those specific instances
By "formal" I mean something that has a more or less stable definition.
For instance, "brainstorming" and "mind mapping" qualify as formal,
whereas "word list" or "card sorting" do not.
