Early-Stage Dementia awareness training workshops for arts facilitators
6 February 2015 at The Wallace Collection and 17 March 2015 at The Imperial War Museum
These full-day training workshops will be delivered by Arts 4 Dementia and Dementia Pathfinders. The aim of the day is to give arts organisations and facilitators insight into the various types of dementia, the challenges people face as symptoms begin to appear, their existing skills and how best to access these. Increasing the skills of facilitators and their confidence in communicating and working creatively with people experiencing the early stages of dementia and their carers.
At the end of the session participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate their understanding of the various types of dementia and how these impact on people's abilities and feelings in the early stages
- Explain the key communication approaches
- Describe with confidence the value of arts based approaches when working with people with early stage dementia
- Explain the impact of Arts 4 Dementia's re-energising approach for participants
Suitable for: Arts organisations, learning and participation teams, arts facilitators and workshop leaders, volunteers and postgraduate arts students.
