Dear Colleagues,
Last night, I gave a lecture titled "Evidence-Based Practice in a Changing World Economy” at the Tongji University College of Design and Innovation. The lecture placed design practice in the context of the changing world economy. The lecture considered design as a research-based discipline and as a field of professional practice, comparing the evolving challenges and opportunities of design to the discipline of physics and the field of medicine. It also examined the role of design education and research in furthering design as a discipline and as a field. The lecture integrated some of the issues in my 2012 article “Models of Design” with recent thoughts on developments in our field.
