Dear Desi
It is perfectly OK,
Your experiences and research sound really interesting, especially elements which question whether 3D printed objects will undermine the museums collection. This features in my own research but from a learning and engagement aspect.
As for literature, I am initially looking at materiality and the meaning making process. As a way of understanding how audiences respond to 3D printed museums objects. I would really recommend :
Dudley, S. (2010) (ed) Museum Materialites: Objects, Engagements, Interpretations. London: Routledge
and
Paris, S. Perspectives on Object Centered Learning in Museums. S. London: Lawrence Erlbaum Associates Publishers, ix- xii
I hope this helps.
I would be really interested in hearing more about your research as it develops
Kind Regards
Amelia Knowlson

Hi Alison,
I'm a graduate student at MIT and I'm researching art museum initiatives
that invite audiences to create with emerging technologies (such as 3D
printing). You can learn more about my project here
<http://museummaking.com/>. I've had the chance to participate in 3D
printing-related programs or discuss with the folks running these programs
at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA.
I'd love to learn more about your research and the kinds of literature
you're looking at as well. Looking forward to seeing how your research goes.
Best,
Desi
