Hello all,
I am working with a curator to produce a simple interactive for a portrait exhibition later this year. One idea we came up with is to provide a dress up box and with a tablet visitors can photo themselves to create their own 'portrait'. Another idea is to load some portraits from the collection to the tablet so that visitors can edit and create their own artwork (recent posts on this were very useful by the way!). We thought if possible it would be nice to project the photos / works onto a frame on a wall for other visitors to see.
The iPads we already have sometimes get fiddled about with, but the cameras are switched off. I was wondering whether anyone else has invited visitors to take their own photos in a similar situation. Do you find they need moderating, and how is this done?
Also - would a label, informing visitors what the photos are being used for, be sufficient to cover permission for our use?
Unfortunately in that gallery we have neither wifi or a network connection yet, so no possibility of moderating / updating remotely - the photos would be going straight onto the tablet. I imagine the alternative is that we ask visitors to take their own photos and send them instead, we then do any moderation through loading them onto the gallery tablet. Possibly a bit more prohibitive for the visitors and more work for us - I'd be really interested to hear any suggestions or feedback please!
Best wishes,
Fiona
