The CASS School of Design has recently undergone a major re-launch within
the newly formed Sir John Cass Faculty of Art, Architecture & Design. The
School has an excellent reputation for inspiring contemporary design
research and thinking, tested through confident making. It hosts around 900
undergraduate, postgraduate & research students and 300 Continuing
Professional Development/Short Course students, studying the widest range
of design disciplines in London, providing opportunities to experience both
specialist and interdisciplinary learning. Our philosophy is to prepare
creative graduates and research innovators for work, both delivering and
innovating industry through ambitious thinking and sound understanding. Our
staff and students work within practice and/or practice-based research,
seeking to improve peoples' lives through design, working with societal
problems, issues and beliefs.
Based in Aldgate, the School of Design embarks on an ambitious time-limited
project 'DESIGN/shift' to design, establish and relocate renewed and
extended academic and third stream provision to bespoke new facilities.

*About the Post*
*Salary: from £39,060 to £45,021 per annum (pro rata) inclusive*
Working with the Head of School as part of a School Project Management
team, the Design Research and Enterprise Project Manager will lead on the
review, management and development of existing subject-specific research
and enterprise strategies for the School. Key areas will be initiatives to
further secure the design research portfolio, funded by income-generating
enterprise and/or CPD, research/enterprise partnerships and
cross-disciplinary live project development. You will also support the
School of Design in relevant fundraising and bid development.
The successful candidate for Design Research and Enterprise Project
Manager: School of Design will be a highly experienced design
researcher/professional practitioner in subjects offered by the School,
with an established track record of successful design research enterprise
project generation, funding and management. The postholder will have a
proven capacity to work independently, leading and developing teams across
disciplines to foster, initiate, develop and sustain design research and/or
enterprise projects, enhancing the quality, viability, visibility of
Research & Enterprise within the School during the project period.
We are looking for someone who will play a lead role within the School,
contributing to Design Research & Enterprise strategic and operational
decisions. You will have a proven record of time-sensitive project/
extra-curricular developments and initiatives within Design Higher
Education, which respond to funding opportunities and issues arising. The
postholder will be charged with establishing clear, achievable School
objectives and targets in Design Research & Enterprise, whilst optimising
income-generation, project efficiency and strategic change during the
project duration. You will engage in goal-setting, task management and
forward project planning to manage the effects of the rapidly evolving
landscape of Design Research & Enterprise funding within Higher Education.
You will also be able to communicate with, lead and mentor staff (from
across the School), alongside working with current and potential external
stakeholders throughout the School project period.
*This is a Fixed Term role for a period of 15 months from the date of
appointment. *
