New technologies enable us to reframe and do new visions.
Artists have a powerful influence in this context but they have a different
role from the one of designers who indeed, do this reframing deliberately to
influence the lives of many people. But the lines are not always very sharp
between artists and designers.²

Framing to me is a social construction, a schema of interpretation, a point
of view, which orders ideas and perceptions. In human ³systems² I¹ve not
found it common for there to be just one frame in operation (take this list
for example) or even for it to be clear to the framers what their frames
are.
So I tend to interpret ³reframing existing situations² as meaning the
deliberate social process of clarifying and resolving differences in points
of view as a basis for agreement about what needs to be done to make
situations better.
It¹s refreshing, though, to collect additional synthetic statements about
design. klaus krippendorff added: ³to me, a professional designer proposes
artifacts or practices of benefit to others who would not have thought of
them on their own.²
I might further suggest: design is the deliberate improvement of things,
situations and conditions. Design aims to make things better - apt, poetic
and just. Art makes things special.
