All, I have included Sally in this though I felt it important that the conversation continued on GEM.
After looking up EVC in Google I realised I have only come across one before, a school representative from Hertfordshire that was at a presentation singing the praises of opportunities to learn outside the classroom. The policy that the EA had here was that the badge was very well worth it if you were offering "outside activity based" learning outside the classroom and could see no value in museums / heritage facilities applying for it. Now with the enormous growth of academies and free schools this may change on a school by school base but no school has asked (as of today) if we are part of the system and until I can prove its "worth" financially I will struggle to find the monies, within a local authority funded service, required to join. It is a brilliant idea and well worth perusing but schools do not see a need of it here, unless they are "going mountain climbing and kayaking" to quote one of my very supportive teachers.
To quote:
For Type 2 visits SCC recognise that providers with the LOtC Quality Badge have been nationally recognised by the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom for offering good quality activity programmes with a clear structure for managing risk effectively. If providers do not hold the LOtC Quality Badge SCC requires schools to obtain a completed a Providers assessment form.
