Dear Colleagues,
A question for Gemmers. I am currently working on the other side i.e. in primary school for two terms to see how the new curriculum may be implemented (and a regular salary). I have recently been asked about approaches to the teaching and learning of the humanities. My school is taking a new look at what might be most effective, creative and stimulating for KS1 & 2 - creating history and geography 'theme' weeks to look in depth over five days for a week per term or half term and planning a programme across each year group linked to the new curriculum? OR continuing with the teaching of the subjects each week in single sessions across a half term.
I would greatly value your thoughts on these approaches. I can see the positives and negatives in each! Any evidence or practical examples would be useful.
Many thanks as always,
Lindsey
