Dear Emma
There are some good examples of digital stories here, some of which were
made for M Shed (The Museum of Bristol)
http://www.bristolstories.org/
I have made several piece for Bristol Stories with different kinds of
contributors, and some personal ones. What I have learned is that the
'story' element needs a personal perspective to really make it resonant with
audiences. Absence (of objects, material evidence, partial memory etc) is
actually a really good reason to make subjective storytelling the best
medium!
The mother of all digital storytelling in the UK is Capture Wales
http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/arts/yourvideo/queries/capturewales.shtml
There are also lots of resources online about how to go about it. The
original and perhaps best is here - which is a US site.

Best of luck with the project
