Shelley,
I would not be too concerned as there as there are some positives about the draft curriculum. There are big issues but I can see your work potentially benefitting in the long run. Here's why:
1) there is a slightly more encouragement for local history:
KS1 - "significant historical events, people and places in their own locality"
KS2 and 3 "They should also be given the opportunity to study local history" is used.
2) there is an increased emphasis on individuals:
KS1 - "the lives of significant individuals in Britain's past who have contributed to our nation's achievements ... or creative geniuses" - the people mentioned are only examples as it says, "such as"
and "significant historical events, people and places in their own locality"
KS2 - "Pupils should be taught about key dates, events and significant individuals" (although the historial content is not aligned with your potential period)
KS3 - "They should also examine cultural, economic, military, political, religious and social aspects and be given the opportunity to study local history" and in the 20th century, "society and social reform ..."
